Official Olympic and World Championships sweaters since 1956.

Norwegians are not known for boosting their credentials, but we actually have to turn up the volume on this one. Did you know we have made official sweaters for the national Norwegian Cross-Country ski team for every single Winter Olympics and World Ski Championships since 1956? That is every single since nineteen-fifty-six? Later we have regularly made official sweaters for the national Norwegian Alpine team as well.

Norwegians are said to be born with skis on their feet. And since the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics these skis have been accompanied by a Dale sweater. Ever since, the sweaters have become iconic collector’s items.

It has been a truly impressive row of legendary ski athletes carrying a Dale sweater and a medallion – or several – around their necks.

We cannot emphasize enough how important these team sweaters have been in the process of making Dale of Norway an internationally renowned brand. There have been so many highlights. Branding-wise, the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics stands out as the two most important events for us.

Even though we love winter and ski, we surely embrace the summer too. In 2020 we made the Tokyo sweater for the Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics. This was our first Summer Olympics team sweater since 1992 (Barcleona).

Are you tempted to have a closer look on our iconic team sweaters? We have made an image parade with the highlights of more than six decades of official team sweaters. Take a look here.
