Nestled between steep mountains and cascading waterfalls on Norway’s west coast lies the village of Dale, a place where nature and craftsmanship have coexisted since 1879. Here, Dale of Norway has been producing premium wool garments, rooted in Norwegian heritage and designed for the modern world.

Dale of Norway Factory

Rooted in Community

Before the factory was built, Dale was a quiet, poor and small farming village. But with the arrival of the textile mill, everything changed. A need for hands brought people. A need for homes built a town. From the very beginning, the factory and the village grew side by side. Without the factory, no jobs. And without loyal workers, no factory. Thus, the people and the factory were weaved together with unbreakable bonds.

Factory history from Dale of Norway

Sustainably driven since day one

Our factory runs on hydroelectric power from the waterfalls surrounding Dale and it's what we call the “white gold.” This renewable energy has powered the production for over 140 years, long before sustainability became a global priority.

Where every garment begins

Dale wool spools Dale of Norway knitting room

Knitting room Dale of Norway

Inside the Knitting Room, advanced machines and skilled technicians bring our patterns to life with quiet precision. This is where heritage meets innovation,- each sweater, hat, scarf, mitten and jacket begins as carefully programmed stitches, rooted in designs that often draw from decades of Norwegian tradition.

Once knitted, every panel is moved to the Finishing Room, where craftsmanship takes on a more human touch. Here, experienced hands shape, steam, assemble, and inspect each piece, ensuring not only the right fit and structure, but also the comfort and lasting quality our garments are known for.

It’s a process where no detail is too small, and no shortcuts are taken. Every step reflects the pride of the people behind it, and the legacy that’s being carried forward, one sweater at a time.

  A seamless production chain

To support growing demand while upholding our standards, we established Wool Group Poland in 2019, a factory fully owned by Dale of Norway. Here, 120 skilled employees assemble and finish garments using knitted panels from our factory in Dale.

With full control over both facilities, we ensure consistency, ethical working conditions, and a smooth production process from start to finish. The result is a collection of garments crafted with care, across borders, but always within our values
